Ludwig Van Beethoven

In the spring of 2019, Trichia created a diversity project which used community engagement to bring students from different campus groups together to workshop the design for a mural based on students' identity and ideas on diversity. The mural is currently on the main floor of the Squires Student center at Virginia Tech.
In 2019 Dr. Andrea Baldwin created and edited a book project which featured the work of the students in her Black Feminisms class. Trichia was fortunate to have her artwork used as the front and back covers of the book and essay published in the text.

Diversity Statement
“What is always needed in the appreciation of art, or life, is the larger perspective”. Connections made or at least attempted, where none existed before, the straining to encompass in one’s glance at the varied world the common thread, the unifying theme through immense diversity, a fearlessness of growth, of search, of looking, that enlarges the private and the public world.”…… Alice Walker

I Am a Queen Campaign
Gender Based Violence PSA
In 2017 Trichia created the "I am a Queen" campaign which used the creative arts and pageantry to empower young women and girls. The campaign consisted of a series of Interviews with popular St Lucian female figures, as well as workshops and other creative projects.
The "I am a Queen" campaign, teamed up with a local campaign against gender-based violence and abuse to create this "Raise Your Voice" PSA.

About
MFA, Arts Leadership, Virginia Tech class of 2021
Trichia Cadette is a native of the West Indian island of St Lucia and holds a B.A in Theatre Arts from Grambling State University. Her career in the arts began at a young age, however, she did not fully embrace her talent until her early adult years as a performer, creative writer, and creator of visual art. Her educational background in Theatre Arts and management propelled her to pursue a career as an educator, which in turn ignited her passion for social work and transformation. Her work in the classroom inspired her to create several after school programs for underprivileged children on the island. Her success in developing these programs created a positive community impact portfolio for the institution and improved student output. Trichia has used her knowledge and experiences to advocate for the empowerment and overall development of young women through the arts. In 2017, she launched the “I am a Queen” campaign which used pageantry as a vehicle for social empowerment and development of positive self-imagery in teenage girls. Trichia is currently pursuing an MFA in Arts Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Women’s and Gender Studies at Virginia Teach. Her passion for advocacy and community engagement has continued throughout her tenure at Virginia Tech; she is the current president of the Black Graduate Student Organization, a published writer and artist and is heavily involved in many community-building programs at Tech. Life is her motivator and she intends to continue her work in community engagement, creative development, and advocacy.
